Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and owner of the independently free online news publication The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she was able to move to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. As the first non-English speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. The success of her conservative columnist was consolidated after she completed her studies. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the political situation. Her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna was famous in 2003, when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. Arianna was also part of an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. She was named The Most Influential Women in Media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009 and was awarded the 12th place in this list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as the president of their media company, which also included the other AOL brands like Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was born to Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalists and consultants in management.
