Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteer work in the community. First, his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children in a Eufala farm. In football, he played alongside three brothers from Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. He won two championships and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given an award for his third time in 1975. Selmon received his bachelor's diploma in education. Fourth-year service in the college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Also, he began a career in business. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee.
